Description

Trigonella foenum-graecum is an annual plant belonging to Fabaceae family and widely distributed throughout the world. In ancient times, this medicinal plant was very common in Greece and at present it is still used as traditional food and in medicine. Fenugreek is also an important source of secondary metabolites such as saponins, pyridine alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids. Fenugreek shows anti-diabetic, hypocholesterolaemic, anti-microbial, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties.
