Description

Terminalia arjuna, a tree species of the Combretaceae family native to the Indian subcontinent, has been popular since the Vedic period (1500-500BC) for the treatment of cardiac ailments. Besides, bark extract also possesses antioxidant, antiarthritic, antimicrobial, antidyslipidaemic, hypocholesterolaemic, wound healing, analgesic, antiurolithiatic, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and immunomodulatory activities. Bark accumulates diverse phytochemicals including triterpenes, tannins, and polyphenols.
