Description

Ruta chalepensis (Fringed rue) originated from Mediterranean Sea region and could be found all over the world grown as a subshrub with several medicinal properties. It contains significant amounts of different natural products predominantly flavonoids and alkaloids, so it is widely used in the herbal medicine worldwide to relieve menstrual and labor pains. In addition, it is also used against some nervous disease and intestinal, eyes, and stomach problems. Fringed rue has shown anticancer, antileukemic, antimicrobial, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and nephroprotective activities.
