Description
Pfaffia glomerata (Amaranthaceae) produced in Central and South America, mainly in Brazil, Ecuador, Panama and other tropical rainforest areas, in Brazil as an important herbal medicine has been used for more than 300 years in local folk. P. glomerata is of great economic interest and is associated with promising applications in phytotherapy and phytomedicine. P. glomerata accumulates the phytoecdysteroid 20-hydroxyecdysone (20-E)—a compound found in many commercial anabolic preparations for athletes. It has agrochemical, biotechnological, medicinal, and pharmaceutical uses.
