Description

Acanthopanax senticosus also termed Siberian ginseng, belongs to the family Araliaceae, is mainly distributed in China, South Korea, Japan, and Russia. It is one of the Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) stipulated in the Pharmacopoeia of the people’s Republic of China, which plays a role in tonifying qi and invigorating the spleen, tonifying the kidney, and calming the nerves. Studies on the chemical constituents of A. senticosus have shown that triterpenoid saponins, lignin, coumarins, and polysaccharides are closely related to their anti-stress, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects.
