Description
Salvia bowleyana is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant with a broad range of therapeutic effects. Both species have become potential models for medicinal plants due to their high contents of medicinal components, including tanshinone Ⅰ, tanshinone ⅡA, β-sitosterol, caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid (RA), methyl rosmarinate, salvianolic acid A, salvianolic acid B (sal B), salvianolic acid C and methylene tanshinquinone. Sal B is the predominant active cardioprotective agent, offering protection against cardiomyocyte damage, cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and myocardial infarction.
