Description
Cydonia oblonga (Quince) is the sole member of the genus Cydonia in the Rosacea family. Most of the quince fruit production is for the food industry as the fruits are used for producing marmalades, jams, sweets, liqueurs and aromatic distillates. Leaf infusions/decoctions have long been used as a herbal remedy and the fruit is a proposed source for extracting health-promoting phytochemicals for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.
