Description
Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis (PPY) is a member of the genus of Paris in the monocot family Melanthiaceae, and distributed throughout Europe and East Asia, with a center of diversity in southwest China. PPY is officially included in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, owing to its analgesic, hemostatic, anti-tumor and anti-inflammation activities derived from the PPY-specific saponins, namely, polyphyllins.
